Why you should quit being a liar!

Does my blog post title seem harsh? Yes, I'm pointing at you!  I just have a few bones to pick with you!

Are you one of those prospectors that say any of these things:

* The products sell themselves!

*You don't have to be a salesperson to sell this product!

*When  you have a great sponsor, you will have great success!

Ok. I'm trying not to hyperventilate here. I see these 3 statements every single day from people trying to build their team via social media. I do not believe a single one of them, has a large, motivated, successful team. Why? Let's look into that.

I'm not here to judge you, because honestly, when I was new to my business- I used the same tactics. I did not have great success with this. And now, after a few years, lots of tears and a lot of dedicated time to learning about what it is, exactly, that I'm doing here- I can honestly say- things are going in a whole new, positive direction for me.

Let's tackle each of these statements, one at a time. "The products sell themselves! It's so easy!"
 - You have immediately just set your potential teammate up for immediate frustration and ultimate failure.  Products do not sell themselves. I have never once seen a tube of lipstick stand up and apply itself to a pair of lips and say, "Wow! You look great! Buy me!" If products sold themselves, we wouldn't need distributors and consultants to promote them. It does take work, you have to get off your couch and show people the products. Wear them, share them, sell them.  They do NOT unpack themselves out of their starter kits and walk around your neighborhood.

"You don't have to be a salesperson to sell this product!"
- Again, you've just set your future teammate up for major disappointment. If you are in sales, you must acquire the skills it takes to be a salesperson. Everything we do in life is a "sale".  You must present yourself in a manner that is professional and trustworthy. You must have honest moments, and be ready to "sell" what you are offering.  Whether its your opportunity, or your product- you need to know your target market- and give them the value they are seeking.  You may not need to be a salesperson from the start, but you MUST be willing to learn to be one. You must seek teachable recruits, and seek those who are willing to teach what they learn. Skills are learned- and passed on. You will not make great progress with talent- you must gain, use and pass on skills.

"You need a great sponsor to have great success."
- This simply isn't true. Your success depends solely upon YOU. You determine your failure or success. Your sponsor cannot sell your products. Your sponsor cannot make your phone calls. Your sponsor will not hand you teammates. Your sponsor can only teach you what you do or do not want to be. If your sponsor is terrible, you know exactly what you don't want to be for your team. If your sponsor is awesome, you know exactly what you can learn, and pass on. It's up to you to seek out education about your business, to obtain knowledge about your industry, and to apply it to your business. No one can do that for you. You must become your own expert.

Are you All In?

Each of us is a star
Sometimes we shine with the rest
Sometimes we twinkle alone
And sometimes, when we least expect it, we make someone's dream come true.

Get All In

I recently read a story about a well known athlete, who started a business venture.

As an athlete, she was very successful. Very Famous. Very popular. If I said her name, you'd know exactly who she is. But, this is not about that.

She wanted more out of life,  so she started something- a business. She invested the absolute minimum required to get going. The minimum monetary requirement, the minimum training...

She would have small success here and there, but, she really wasn't getting the results she really wanted. So, one day, she called her mom to vent about it.  Her mom changed her whole perspective with one big question......

"ARE YOU ALL IN?"

She realized that she had in fact, not been "all in". She wasn't doing all she could to go big. She took a whole new approach and invested in her business, and in herself. And, she finally got big results.

So, how are you doing? Are you getting results you want? Are you ALL IN?

Here are some ideas to go all in:

Believe in yourself. If you don't believe in you, how can anyone else believe in you? Believe in your business, your product, your company. Duplicate what is working for the leaders above you.

Attend training's. If your company provides training and conventions- GO to them! They are made with YOU in mind...and designed to propel you into success!

Listen to calls. Whatever team  you are on, whatever phone conferences you can find- get on them. You can ALWAYS learn something new.

Invest in your business. If you have a product, invest in getting it. It can be hard, especially when you are new- but, it will be WORTH IT.

Invest in yourself. Find and read books about your industry. It's not so much a monetary investment, go to the library- but spend the time it takes to read it and absorb it. It will change how you operate!

Invest interest in others. Don't make it all about you and your bottom line. Listen to what others want and need out of life- then make it all about them!  You will double your success this way!

Make your business a daily adventure. Do something every day that benefits your business. People should never walk away from talking with you wondering what you do for a living. Eat it, breathe it, BE IT.

There are two motivating forces: Fear and Love
When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people wo embrace life. ~Unknown

GET ALL IN! I believe in you! You can DO THIS!

Baby steps, keep moving!

Who's working this weekend? I tried and tried to get this weekend booked with something and kept hitting obstacles! I hope it's because I'm going to have a baby! lol
I just want to take a minute to talk a little bit about stepping out of your comfort zone. Now, this is something leaders ALWAYS tell you, that you need to do. But, do you need to LEAP out of it? No. Baby steps! One of the most effective and productive ways to grow your business is to build relationships with people- and that starts with trust.
So, how do you build a relationship? How does it start?
The easiest thing to do is simply find something to compliment someone on. Say, "I like your necklace!"
This is going to start a conversation- when they say thank you, ask them- "Is it Paparazzi?"
If they say yes, say- "I thought so! I just started selling it, and just LOVE it!"
If they say no, this is your opportunity! Share it with them!
If they don't want to engage in conversation, no harm, no foul- you might have made their day simply by giving them a compliment.
Maybe that person will remember you the next time you run into them at the store, and approach you this time. Start building those relationships.
Some people have built a very successful business by using social media. But let me tell you this, it's a lot harder to build a relationship with someone you haven't met face to face. Most of my team is built on personal relationships. How many of you were my hostess before joining? How many knew me before I started selling? See how that works? You knew me, trusted me....
Your comfort zone is ok to start in...but don't be afraid of those baby steps on your way out. Always move forward. I challenge you this weekend, as you are running errands or doing your normal activities, to just pay someone a compliment. Test the waters. If nothing happens, that's ok- it was good practice! Keep doing it, and you will find results! Make it all about them! Offer value and interest in who THEY are!
I hope to hear some positive stories come out of this!
